Class Descriptions
Auditions:
Auditions are held during and after school March 12 - 16 for the 2007-2008 school year.Students prepare the following: An assigned song from memory Tonal memory,Sight Reading, 24 hour song prep, Dance (Show Choir)
ALL FRESHMEN MUST SIGN UP FOR A BEGINNING CHORUS. IF THEIR TALENT, SIGHT-SINGING SKILL, AND PERSONAL MATURITY WARRANT IT, THEY MAY BE MOVED TO AN UPPER CHOIR AT THE TEACHER’S DISCRETION.
Beginning Women’s Chorus Non-Audition Choir Grades 9–12
Four major concerts per year. Basics in musicianship stressed including vocal training and sight-reading skills. Solo opportunities encouraged through participation in AMEA Solo and Ensemble, Regional, and All-State Festival auditions. Student must pay AIA fee if they choose to participate in these events.
Intermediate Choir Audition Choir Grades 9–12
Four major concerts per year. Basics in musicianship stressed including vocal training and sight-reading skills. Solo opportunities encouraged through participation in AMEA Solo and Ensemble, Regional, and All-State Festival auditions. Student must pay AIA fee if they choose to participate in these events.
Advanced Women's Choir Audition Choir Grades 10 - 12
Four major concerts per year. Other special concerts scheduled throughout the year. Advanced musicianship skills in vocal technique and sight-singing are stressed. Members of this choir are REQUIRED to audition for Regional and Solo and Ensemble Festival. Ensemble participates in large
group festivals and may participate in a Choir Tour.
Advanced Mixed Chorus Audition Choir Grades 9–12
Four major concerts per year. Other special concerts scheduled throughout the year. Advanced musicianship skills in vocal technique and sight-singing are stressed. Members of this choir are REQUIRED to audition for Regional and Solo and Ensemble Festival. Ensemble participates in large group festivals and may participate in a Choir Tour.
