Beginning Women's Chorus

Four major concerts per year.  Basics in musicianship stressed including vocal training and sight-reading skills.  Solo opportunities encouraged through participation in AMEA Solo and Ensemble, Regional, and All-State Festival auditions.  Student must pay AIA fee if they choose to  participate in these events.

The Beginning Women's Choir is made up of an exceptional group of ladies who really treat each other with respect and love. "Everyone in choir is really close", says Sarah. It's cool because you can talk to anyone about anything. We really treat each other like family and help each other to improve. One of our main focuses is sight-reading. We have a wide variety of knowledge of sight-reading ranging from very beginners, to people who have been doing it for a number of years. It's great because no one gets left in the shadows - there is always someone to help. We have choreography for a lot of our numbers, and although a lot of our beginning women are dancers, a fair amount of them have only danced a couple of times in their life. To help them, we have three fantastic choreograhers: Angela, Ali, and Kaitlyn. We sing a wide variety of music - half of it, most of those girls would have never imagined themselves singing. But once they overcome the fact that, yes, we are singing classical pieces, they have a wonderful time and sound absolutely stunning. "choir is one of the best places to meet friends" says Alex, "and it's really nice to be with people who like to do the same things as you."
